Gmail Video and Gmail envelopes are in the wild

August 31st, 2007

It’s been several weeks since the folks at Google, writing on the Gmail Blog, asked for Gmailers to send in video snippets showing how they use Gmail. More specifically, the idea was to get, from Gmailers’ points-of-view, a behind-the-scenes look at how Gmail messages really travels around the world, according to Gmail’s product manager, Arielle Reinstein.

British divorce rate down again

August 30th, 2007

The Brits must be doing something right, as there are reports on the international wires today that the number of divorces in the United Kingdom has declined for the third consecutive year. In fact, the number is now at a 30-year low, meaning divorces are at their lowest point in the UK since 1977, and proportionally, the lowest in 22 years, or since 1985.

Michael Vick jury ready to start

August 28th, 2007

A hat tip to my friend, Stan M., who came across this great illustration about the Michael Vick dog abuse/dog fighting trial.

Firefox 2.0.0.6 is out, but bugs prevail, and a fix

August 28th, 2007

If Mozilla wants to be a serious contender, which it says it wants to be — yet really isn’t gaining much ground in the browser world — it really needs to focus on quality, standards, and on working properly, in full, on all platforms for which it is released. Not long ago, perhaps a few weeks or so, I was watching a TV news talk show and one of the guests happened to be Michael Eric Dyson. If you’re not familiar with him, that’s not a big deal. Perhaps you’ve heard of a few things he’s written, including, You Know What I Mean?; Reflections on Hip Hop; Debating Race; Come Hell or High Water; and Is Bill Cosby Right?

For women, race matters when it comes to sleep

August 27th, 2007

Yes, it seems the human body has some kind of misfiring in black women, as compared to a group of white women, when it comes to obstructive sleep apnea, a potentially life-threatening disorder.

A Barbie Baby, er, Barbie Bandit, cries in court

August 22nd, 2007

Heather Johnson, Ashley Miller, and their cohort, 22-year-old Herman Allen III, all committed a crime against society. In fact, the bank’s surveillance camera, shows Johnson and Miller, called the Barbie Bandits because they were young women who were laughing and wearing fashionable sunglasses. I wonder if the sunglasses were to hide their bloodshot eyes from smoking too much pot.

August 21st, 2007

The Space Shuttle Endeavour, ordered home early because of Hurricane Dean, has landed safely at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
