Norazza DD3001 Data Destroyer CD/DVD Shredder

Do you know how to destroy CDs/DVDs before trashing them for privacy? I’ve tried and experimented with many ways over the years, yet never found any that were truly fast, clean, and easy. Until now, that is.

My recently commonly used practice for destroying all CDs or DVDs that were no longer serving a purpose, such as outdated software, old backups, and even old music CDs, were all relegated to my old micro-fine paper shredder.

Sample of DVD destroyed by the Norazza DD3001 Data Destroyer CD/DVD ShredderIt seems that after a hard five-year life around me, the CD/DVD shredder portion of the shredder decided to give up. Thanks to the shredder’s design, the CD/DVD shredder had a separate motor, and the micro-fine paper and credit card shredder is still working just fine.

When the CD/DVD shredder died, it did so after I had shred about four of 50 old CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs that were condemned to a shredded fate. That led me to a prompt quest to hopefully find a portable CD and DVD shredder.

Instead of finding a shredder for my old CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs, I found the Norazza CD/DVD Data Destroyer, which causes destruction of the front (printed) and back sides of CDs and DVDs in seconds, which leaves any content — data, video, audio, etc. — completely unreadable.

Using the Norazza CD/DVD Data Destroyer is simple:

  1. Insert the CD or DVD
  2. Seconds later, the CD or DVD is ejected, having had its front and back surfaces imprinted with thousands of tiny dots, leaving the disc unreadable.

What makes the Norazza CD/DVD Data Destroyer so great is that there’s no fuss, no mess, and no sharp plastic pieces from shredded CDs or DVDs. Everyone who’s owned or operated a CD/DVD shredder will tell you they can be messy with the plastic pieces, and sometimes, depending on the CDs or DVDs destroyed, you get glitter, though not by choice. This is an excellent data destruction method which anyone can operate, and it’s fast, destroying 15 CDs or DVDs in about one minute.

In fact, after you’ve run a CD or DVD through the Norazza CD/DVD Data Destroyer, or, just to be extra safe, run it through two or three times, you can use the destroyed discs:

  • as a mini-flying disc
  • as a coaster
  • or decorate a friend’s wall at the office — yet never have a worry about anyone ever getting ahold of your private information.

Surf’s up, dude!
