Tastykake Krimpets a little too hot to handle

July 19, 2007 at 2:06 pm (EDT)

Firefighters rushed by the truckload to the Tastykake bakery around five this morning when they heard Tastykake’s butterscotch krimpets were hot.

The butterscotch covered cakes today, though, normally hot selling items, were not to satisfy the sweet tooth of any of the firefighters. Not a chance.

A call for the fire department went out this morning when a fire erupted in a butterscotch krimpet oven in the bakery’s sixth-floor kitchen. Flames from the oven engulfed a portion of the roof and into some of the duct work.

Despite being tasty, I think I will pass up on an offer to taste any of the Krimpets from that batch.

  • Burnt krimpets? I’d pass too.

Although, now I have a hankering for a peanut butter kandy kake

  • LOL! As much as I like peanut butter — even just by itself — I do not like the peanut butter tandytakes, er, oops — kandykakes. The name was changed, I guess, while I was in Illinois.

Give me one of those chocolate ones, not too often, and I am happy.
