Dr Pepper site crashes under Chinese Democracy giveaway visitor load

November 23rd, 2008

I went to the Dr Pepper site to see how it was holding up during the Chinese Democracy launch free Dr Pepper giveaway promotion has now been underway for just over 13½ hours. What did I find? That my thoughts of a server crash had panned out.

In my original post about the Dr Pepper free 20-ounce soda for all Americans because Guns N’ Roses’ album, Chinese Democracy has hit store shelves after 17 years in the making, I noted that planning by the Dr Pepper IT staff was a critical factor in this promotion.

Signs the office air conditioner is working overtime

September 21st, 2008

How do you know the air conditioning at work, in the local department store, in your favorite grocery store, or anywhere else, is working a little too well? That’s easy! Check nature’s finest thermometers and see if it’s nipply.

A pain in the butt, sore hands, soiled hands, or even a sore body. Sometimes the work you do to earn the money is purely mental, making many people feel burned out at the end of the day, but earning an honest day’s pay — especially when you’re paid fairly — is always a good feeling. Making money online, though, can often be less than fulfilling.

Using OneNote to organize your life at work, school, home, or anywhere

January 28th, 2008

Are you one of those people who are constantly on-the-go? Do you work in more than one location, such as in an office, remotely — whether from home, other work sites, or customer locations — and do you work with large volumes of information? If you said yes, then get your four gigabyte USB flash drive handy.

Back in the early days of personal computers — in the late 1970s and early 1980s — there was talk that computers would one day lead to paperless offices. If you read reports that come out every few years, that’s hardly the case. Even so, it doesn’t mean you need to be buried under paper copies of everything you deal with on a regular basis.
