Windows 7 is a solid buy

Many people acted like sheeple, buying into the aired-so-often commercials about , some are wondering what Apple is going to suggest about Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7, which was released officially today.

Having used Windows 7 during its beta, as well as since release of its “Gold” or “” version, I can tell you it is much more stable than any other operating system that I’ve used over the past 20-plus years; has a variety of helpful and easy-to-use features, which is important for novice or new computer users; and runs on many systems that would not run Microsoft Vista.

Stopping spyware, adware, key-logging software, and popup ads

I’ve been around computers since the later 1970s, having gotten started in the early days of "personal computing" using a Tandy TRS-80, commonly referred to as a TRaSh-80 by the users. If you can’t figure out why, even after slowly looking at the name, I’m not sure I can help you.

After the TRS-80, I had a couple of other machines, a Commodore VIC-20, Commodore 64, a Commodore 128, and it went from there.

CBS plans to drop The Unit from Fall schedule?

May 13, 2008

One TV show I used to watch, and have watched since it was introduced about three years ago, The Unit, has had its current season halted, and despite pulling in high ratings before the writer’s strike, may be axed by idiots in CBS’ entertainment division.

January 28, 2008

Are you one of those people who are constantly on-the-go? Do you work in more than one location, such as in an office, remotely — whether from home, other work sites, or customer locations — and do you work with large volumes of information? If you said yes, then get your four gigabyte USB flash drive handy.

Back in the early days of personal computers — in the late 1970s and early 1980s — there was talk that computers would one day lead to paperless offices. If you read reports that come out every few years, that’s hardly the case. Even so, it doesn’t mean you need to be buried under paper copies of everything you deal with on a regular basis.

Nero 8 is finally here!

November 2, 2007

In case I’ve not made myself clear in the past about my need for the latest and great, let me clarify: I love new toys, tools, gadgets, and gizmos. I love alpha- and beta-testing, mostly because I get to play with new hardware, software, gadgets, accessories, and such before they are on the market, but more because I love new advances in technology.
