Sleepy time in the U.S.A.

March 8th, 2008

In moving the clocks ahead one hour, we are effectively losing an hour of sleep. Without proper preparation for the time change, people end up sleepy. In honor of sleepy people, as well as a tribute to our men and women in uniform, here’s a great video.

Get SnagIt for free for post-Thanksgiving cheer

November 24th, 2007

Thanksgiving is over, and hopefully you walked away from the table last evening with a full belly. In my home, I know my family and extended family did, but even my dog ate better than some people did last night, or, for that matter, any night of the year. That alone was plenty for us to be thankful for, but there were many other things on our list, just to be clear.

Today, though, while clicking through various emails that have been received over the past few days, as well as the blog posts displaying in RSS that I am catching up on today, I found an interesting Black Friday Tech Freebie, one more thing that can help some have even more reason to be thankful for this weekend.

Accuracy in media falls on its face with Nancy Grace

July 13th, 2007

When it comes to being accurate, Nancy Grace evidently believes her demands she knows all, and when she speaks, her guests must immediately be silent on the topic. Fortunately, I am not one of her guests. As someone who spent over two decades in newsrooms as a journalist and editor, I freely bash media outlets when they get it wrong. Guess what? My proverbial bat is swinging at Nancy Grace.

Why are music CD sales down?

June 15th, 2007

Do you tire, like me, of listening to “recording artists” and record companies and the Recording Industry Association of America (the loudest crybaby of all) whine about declining music sales? Are you tired of hearing that all of it is tied to “online music piracy” almost every time you turn on the TV news?

Sixty percent of American women say they get a good night’s sleep only a few nights per week or less, and 67 percent say they frequently experience a sleep problem. Additionally, 43 percent say that daytime sleepiness interferes with their daily activities, according to a new poll released today by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF).
