Lawyer gets only 28 months for aiding terrorist

She faced 30 years for helping imprisoned client communicate with followers
“The end of my career truly
is like a sword in my side.”
Waaaa! Can you hear Lynne Stewart crying where you are? Unfortunately, because of TV news that I watch for a quick headline summary, as well as various news sites, I can’t help but hear this woman cry that she’s been treated unfairly.
A story out of New York, by the Associated Press’ (AP) Larry Neumeister, said Stewart, who worked as a civil rights attorney, was on trial for helping Omar Abdel-Rahman, communicate with his scum-sucking buddies around the world.
See, Chief Scum Sucker himself, Abdel-Rahman, is blind, but also is supposedly a Muslim cleric, you know, a religious dude supposedly. The fine, upstanding cleric, not wanting to tarnish his good name, is now sitting in prison for plotting to destroy five New York landmarks, as well as plotting to assassinate Egypt’s president. Yep, that shows religion.
Perhaps Abdel-Rahman is one of those Muslims that "other" Muslims say is the "black sheep" of the family? Either way, it seems the guy was popular in the Muslim community, in the U.S., as well as abroad, so if he was the black sheep, I don’t want to see someone that’s liked.
Stewart is one of those attorneys, it seems, that likes to stand on the side of the courtroom with the bad guys, especially the ones that are really bad, but she wants to find just a glimmer, a sparkle, okay, how about an iota of doubt, so she can free her clients. You know how it goes in the statement to the jurors:
"If there is any doubt, no matter how little, you must not convict this fine individual sitting here before you." Nope, don’t convict any of those Black Panthers. Be sure not to convict any of those anti-war radicals.
This woman, this, hhhmmmmm … radical Muslim sympathizer of the Homo sapien degenerate persuasion, if you will, was eligible for 30 years in prison. Thirty years! The judge gives her only 28 months and the scum sucking attorney walks away, whining, groaning that she gets to sit her big butt in prison, mooching off the taxpayers, for the next 28 months! No wonder attorneys get get bad names: they earned them.
After U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl pronounced the sentence of 28 months, saying she was guilty of smuggling messages between the Muslim religious dude and his followers, adding that the consequences of her actions could have been "potentially lethal," she smiled, cried, and hugged supporters, the AP reported.
Koeltl said the crimes were nothing less than "extraordinarily severe criminal conduct."
To warrant his deviation from federal sentencing guidelines that would have put Stewart in prison for 30 years, the pussy-footing judge said Stewart’s 30-plus years of helping poor, disadvantaged, and unpopular clients led him to be lenient. Just shoot me now, please.
"Ms. Stewart performed a public service, not only to her clients, but to the nation," Koeltl said, according to the AP. The only problem is, her "public service" was terroristic.
Continuing with his ever-pleasing sentence, Koeltl said Stewart could walk around, free as a jaybird, so she may appeal her 28 month sentence. That process could, and likely will, take more than a year.
Well, get out your violins for the woman. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and her lawyer, Elizabeth Fink, warned in a plea to the judge: "If you send her to prison, she’s going to die. It’s as simple as that."
I’m sure her client was concerned about the lives of fellow Americans where she helped her scum sucking client get his messages out to terrorists, right? Oh, yeah. She was real concerned about acts of terrorism on American soil. So much so, she was willing to help orchestrate several. Charming. Simply charming.
Oh, the poor Miss Innocent. As the judge said, she is guilty of nothing less than "extraordinarily severe criminal conduct." Where does little Miss Fink think her pity plays on the citizens of the U.S.? Send her client, via an express train to hell. Non-stop.
When the lame attorney, Stewart, just for clarification, went outside, she did nothing but boast about the U.S. Justice System being soft on crime and terrorism. She said she got "a victory for doing good work all one’s life," adding that "you get time off for good behavior usually at the end of your prison term. I got it at the beginning."
Where is the firing squad? Hell, forget the rest of the squad. Give me, what did they use, M-1s? Give me an M-1, and M-14, or even a my old M1911-A1, or, out here in the civilian world, a Colt .45. I’ll be glad to help justice be served.
If there’s another vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court, I can see now who Bush will nominate: John G. Koeltl, a man tough of talk but weak on crime and terror. Just like Bush.
