Five million of America’s senior citizens have not yet signed up yet for their Medicare Part D (the “prescription plan”) portion of their coverage. These are people who are old, often confused, and hey, let’s not forget, even the fine, intelligent people in Congress cannot explain, let alone understand the Part D coverage under Medicare plan.

Yet the tired, old, and yes, the disabled population, too, often are confused about this plan. Supposedly, if you listen to the sitting president, George W. Bush, this is a “great” plan. Maybe for him and his cronies. I wonder if he is getting kickbacks from drug companies. Either way, Congress has set a deadline for the old folks to get signed up for the plan. If they miss that deadline, especially because they are confused about the coverage, what they need to do, or why things have changed — forget explaining what has changed — these people are not going to get an extension so they can apply and be covered.

Sure, why should we cover them? If they miss the deadline, screw them. Who cares? They are old.

Guess what? That’s the point. They are old. They’ve paid their dues. They’ve paid into Medicare and Social Security. It was on their backs these programs were initially launched and funded. They’ve paid into the system. Their money is sitting there, in the coffers, despite the system falling apart. That isn’t their fault.

No, it is the fault of the people in Washington, D.C., the same idiots who have raped and pilfered the Medicare and Social Security programs for years, not putting the monies collected into specific accounts, letting the money sit and collect money. Put the blame firmly where it belongs: on corrupt politicians.

On another issue, though, an estimated 12 million illegal aliens (perhaps as high as 30 million, depending on the numbers you read) are in our country at this moment. Congress seemingly is going to allow them to stay, protest, procreate, receive support monies, attend schools, avoid paying income taxes, have our teachers take 300 hours of English as a Second Language (ESL) training at our expense so these people and their children don’t have to learn in English — rather in their own language — whatever it may be, as the illegal aliens come from many countries, not just one. The list, unfortunately, goes on and on. The situation is sickening.

So, our older citizens and our disabled citizens, people who have lawfully paid into the system, are going to lose their coverage because of a program that’s screwed more than almost anything else I’ve seen in the past 20 years, but Congress is going to allow millions of illegal aliens from a host of countries, remain in the U.S., collect benefits, and life goes on.

As someone else said, we must really hate the old and disabled in our country, but hell, break in to the U.S., that is, come here illegally, and you’re a charm — we love you. Not!

It’s time for Congress to grow a backbone — or borrow one from any American citizen — and put an end to the stupidity they are calling compassion when it comes to illegal aliens. Those people — from any country, again, not just one — brought on any dislike for themselves by their very actions. If they came to the U.S. legally, following the rules and guidelines that millions of others have, they would be fine. Because they came to the U.S. on their terms — thinking the U.S. owed them something — whatever they get — deported, tossed in jail, or a combination — hell, fine them, too! — then send them back from whence they came. On a slow boat! No first-class anything, unless, of course, they pay for it.

Call your elected officials and get America’s old and disabled protected, giving them an extension on a screwed-up Medicare Part D program. While you have those elected cronies on the phone, be sure to tell them to dump the illegals off at the nearest port for immediate deportation — no benefits, no privileges, no nothing.
