President donates full salary to public welfare

CNN has a story that caught my eye. It says the president vowed during an unscheduled news conference over the weekend to give his full salary to public welfare, helping the underprivileged.


McCain’s straight talk about home loans is on-target

McCain scored a point with me when he said that no emergency bailout should be made to the people who obtained these mortgages. His opponents, though, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, have made comments in the recent past that some kind of “help” ought be made available to the people with these mortgages. My question to Clinton and Obama would be: “Why? Are you looking at rewarding bad and irresponsible behavior?”


At least it wasn’t oral sex in the Oval Office …

Disgraced and under-FBI investigation New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, with his wife, Silda, at his side, make a 60 second statement at a pseudo-press conference to “apologize” to his family and the public for his wanton acts of lust.


U.S. missiles strike Mogadishu

Sometimes payback is slow in coming, but when it does, just remember that it will be very pointed. That seems to be what happened earlier this morning in Mogadishu when missiles were fired at a house suspected of being inhabited by al-Qaeda operatives.

If you remember the town’s name — Mogadishu — it was the site of a a 1993 battle between members of the U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force against a local warlord, Mohammed Farrah Aidid, and his gun-toting followers.


Dogs on the loose in McCain’s campaign office

Knowing how to act presidential is one of those things all presidential candidates ought be required to master before being allowed to toss their proverbial hat into the ring, let alone get their names on ballots. Acting presidential means you know how to twist words, especially when you’re asked by one of your supporters, “So, mister or madam candidate, how do we beat the {enter your choice of derogatory words here}?”, obviously in reference to one of your opponents.
