Earlier today, around 2:10 p.m., miscommunication between a Congressional staffer, as well as workers at Cleveland’s City Hall, led to news reports from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Associated Press, and CNN, among other news outlets, to prematurely report the death of U.S. Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones, 57, who was serving her fifth term in Congress.

This evening, at 6:12 p.m., however, the Congresswoman was pronounced dead about 24 hours after being taken to the hospital by ambulance. She would have celebrated her 59th birthday in 21 days, on September 10.

Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress, remains alive – despite several news reports around 2 p.m. today to the contrary, as well as information in Congress around 1 p.m., saying she had passed away.

Jones has been hospitalized for about a day now, as a result of a brain aneurysm in what doctors describe as an “inaccessible” part of the brain. Many news outlets had reported she had died from a brain aneurysm she suffered Tuesday evening while driving, according to the Cleveland Plains Dealer and CNN. She will celebrate her 59th birthday in 21 days, on September 10.

Senate is rewarding telecommunications providers for breaking the law
York Times is reporting that the United States Senate, by a vote of 69-28, approved a bill overhauling the rules covering secret government eavesdropping and granting immunity to telecommunications companies that aided in the wiretapping of Americans without warrants. Doing Chicago-style two-stepping, Barack Obama, who originally spoke harsh words against the illegal wiretaps, voted today in favor of granting immunity to the telecommunications companies. His former presidential contender, Hillary Clinton, stayed true to her original position and voted against the immunity.

Imagine someone you know going into a coma tomorrow. With the November 2008 Presidential election several months off, they’d have no idea the outcome when they wake from the coma, if ever.

Trying to remain eternally optimistic, though, let’s suppose that person wakes from the coma in 2015, about seven years from now. Can you imagine what a different world it could be?

Last night’s glaring ending to the six-week Pennsylvania primary election was proof enough that Sen. Barack Hussein Obama never cared about Pennsylvania; intended his inflammatory comments as many around the country interpreted them; and just “wants to get on with the game” of the election.

CNN has a story that caught my eye. It says the president vowed during an unscheduled news conference over the weekend to give his full salary to public welfare, helping the underprivileged.

McCain scored a point with me when he said that no emergency bailout should be made to the people who obtained these mortgages. His opponents, though, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, have made comments in the recent past that some kind of “help” ought be made available to the people with these mortgages. My question to Clinton and Obama would be: “Why? Are you looking at rewarding bad and irresponsible behavior?”

Here’s a hat tip to my good friend, DA66, who sends me a lot of humorous stuff, but also some stuff that cracks me up to no end.

In thinking back over the past few days of “presidential campaigning,” I recall Barack Obama saying it’s time for him to turn up the heat and really dish out the nasties on his opponent, Hillary Clinton. I wonder if Barack’s people are behind this ditty sent to me by DA66, who could be one of my people, but I just can’t afford to hire him.

The New York Times revealed a big breakthrough in the 2008 presidential election on its Op-Ed pages last evening. The paper began reporting around 9:30 last evening that New York City’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg, will not try to leave New York City, unlike his predecessor, Rudy Giuliani.
