Black Friday now starts before and lasts long after Thanksgiving

Well, it’s that time of year again: people are preparing to cook their turkeys (of the bird variety, not the boyfriend/husband variety), stuff themselves with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and other delicious edibles for Thanksgiving, only to try to drag themselves out of bed the next morning for that annual start of the Christmas season tradition: Black Friday.

This year, with the economy nose-diving like a Japanese kamikaze pilot, retailers online and in the brick-and-mortar world have taken a slightly different approach to Black Friday. Most recognize that the traditional five or six hour sale, starting during pre-dawn hours, isn’t going to ring up the profits they are used to bringing in, so they have expanded Black Friday to pre-Thanksgiving, but also extending it, in some cases, until early December, as well.
