Vets, troops not in uniform now allowed to salute U.S. flag
November 13th, 2008
Military vets, as well as military personnel who are not in uniform, such as those on leave, or somewhere, such as a baseball or football game, sometimes find themselves raising a salute to the American flag when the national anthem is played. Until now, it was not considered appropriate — or legal — for either the vets or military personnel not in uniform to salute the American flag.
That’s all changed, and now, if you see someone saluting the flag, don’t look twice, and better yet, don’t try to correct the person.
