A stroll down pre-tech memory lane

by Dave Jackson (Scoop0901) on Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Long before cell phones, MP3 players, CDs and DVDs, laptops, and home theaters, life was simple. There were wax records that were played on record players; notebooks and steno books for taking notes; and black-and-white television and the dear old radio, especially the ever-popular AM stations!

Gone are the days of some of the simple pleasures many of us enjoyed, such as (if you can’t identify the item in the photo, continue reading and you’ll get the item’s description):

If you remember most of these – or even all of these – then you’ve lived a good life. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It simple means you most likely know the value of a dollar, remember cars with high-beam buttons on the floorboard, and ignition switches on the dashboard, not the steering column of cars. It means you remember America when it was a strong, bold country where people were proud to be called Americans, and a place where everyone could speak American English. Kids today wouldn’t know what to do it they weren’t told to press 1 for English. Be proud of your past. Be proud of our collective past.

Now that you’ve taken a stroll down memory lane, use the Tell-A-Friend form below to pass this page on to others – those who need a break from their "grown-up" life, and those too young to know what any of the things on this page are, just so they can look in awe, wishing they could save 5,000 S&H Green Stamps to get an "official" major league baseball.

I triple-dog dare ya! Remember, no one can walk away from a triple-dog dare. There’s no way you turn it down.
